THE GREAT ICE THERAPY
Since
my early youth I knew that one of the ideal habits to adopt for a healthy everyday life was to end the bath or shower
with cold water in order to close the pores well and face the outer world more
protected. Later on I found out about
esthetic therapies to reafirm and tone the muscles as well as to attain better
performance in sports with ice, which I never tried.
It
wasn’t until 2017 that I heard of the great health benefits at all levels that
one can get through ice inmersions. The name of the Dutchman Wim Hof, better
known as “the iceman”, was starting to resonate, who, among other exceptional
achievements and having broken at least 22 Record Guinnes, had climbed Mount
Everest in shorts and sneakers and could sit down and meditate for more than an
hour on a glacier wearing only shorts, without the hint of a tremor.
My
son, whom at the time was 22, already had been experimenting with the Wim Hof
breathwork and icebaths. So that I, who live in the very hot coast of the
Oaxacan Pacific, could experience some form of ice inmersions, he adviced to
try soaking my hands and feet in buckets of ice and water increasing the time
each day until reaching at least 3 minutes.
I
noticed how just by doing this I already felt a clearing of my mind. It also
stopped symtoms of colds and flues, headaches, stomach intoxications, desinflamated
my tired hands, etc. When I was finally doing 10 minutes of hands and feet
together, my son decided to send me a gift which was a cylindric portable tub
for full body inmersions. This way I could receive the even deeper health
benefits at all levels, one of which is the full toning of the cardiovascular
system.
This is how my interest to go deeper into the so
called “serotonin breathing with inner fire bliss” came about. This breathwork emerged since ancestral times
among spiritual teachers and healers from the Himalayas and has been adapted
and adopted throughout the world as
years go by and has been simplified and made accesible to anyone who endeavors
in the exploration of one’s awareness and self-healing in our times by Wim Hof.
I had the fortune of meeting Wim Hof himself in person and
having him do an icebath session in my tub in my house on a coincidental
visit of his to the coast of Oaxaca in October of 2021. Since then I have been
studying and experimenting breathwork and ice inmersions even more consciensciously and experimenting
and sharing my discoveries carefully and with very satisfactory results with
others.
I offer this therapy with all the necessary care
while I happily expand my mission of proving to myself and the world that we
human beings are capable of preventing illness and healing ourselves.
